Sponge gold is soft and ductile, which has good conductivity of heat and electricity. Its chemical property is not active and is not easy to oxidize in air. It does react with water, acid or strong alkali solution, however can dissolve in aqua regia and turn into chloroauric acid. It would’t oxidize when heating to melt.
