Cerium fluoride is white powder or 3-6mm melt particle of hexagonal crystal system, which is rare earth metal fluoride and a kind of scintillation crystal. It is also a kind of fluorescent powder. CeF3 could be doped with Tb3+, Pr3+, Ce3+, Yb3+, Tm3+, nitrogen, hydroxide radical and so on. Applications
Cerium trifluoride uses as high pure chemical reagent and evaporation coating material. It is also raw material for scintillation ceramics. Zinc sulfide(ZnS) could mix with CeF3 to produce thin-film optical coating. Cerium trifluoride is also a kind of solid lubricant. Nano CeF3 could improve the high temperature resistance property and wear resistance property of dielectric oil for transformer.
