Europium powder is made from europium metal, which is soft. It is the most active element among rare earths. Europium oxidizes in air quickly and might self-ignite, so it is in vacuum packing or protected by inert gas. It also absorb and react with moisture or water quickly. Europium could react with acid and release hydrogen. The storage of europium metal powder should avoid air, fire, heat, oxides, halogen, acid, moisture and water.

Applications
Europium metal is raw material for a kind of Eu-MOF fluorescent material. Grinding Eu-MOF to powder, when it sticks to materials on hands, it would combine with them well and the left handprint is with continuous lines and strong uniform fluorescence. The electrostatic interaction and size repulsion effect make it owns adsorptive selectivity. It could separate methylene blue from blended fuel.
