Lanthanum hydride is a rare earth hydride, which is black inflammable powder. It react with water at 0℃. LaH2 is cubic structure, however LaH3 is face-centred cubic structure. The magnetism of LaH2 is a little lower than metal lanthanum, however LaH3 own diamagnetism. The electrical conductivity of LaH2 and LaH3 both are lower than lanthanum metal. Lanthanum metal is the raw material. La and Fe, Ni, Co form alloy, La compound with hydrogen, which are raw material for production of hydrogen storage materials.
